A tragic case from California has shocked a local community after a man allegedly killed his ex-wife and her partner during a confrontation. Authorities believe the incident was driven by intense emotions, describing it as a “crime of passion.”
What Happened in Dinuba
According to the Dinuba Police Department, 43-year-old Miguel Angel Saldana has been arrested and charged with two counts of murder.
Police say the incident took place on April 23 at a home in Dinuba, located in California’s Central Valley. Saldana is accused of fatally shooting his ex-wife, 39-year-old Irai Torres, and her boyfriend, 51-year-old Jose Medina.
Police Description of the Incident
Abel Iriarte stated in an interview with KSEE/KPGE that the suspect allegedly “lost his temper” during the confrontation.
While exact details of the argument have not been publicly shared, police believe the shooting happened during a heated dispute.
Events After the Shooting
Authorities said that after the incident:
- Saldana fled the scene in a white Toyota truck
- He went to his home in nearby Reedley
- Switched vehicles
- Returned to Dinuba
Multiple 911 calls were made around 5:10 p.m., alerting police to the shooting.
When officers arrived, both victims were already dead.
Arrest and Charges
Police tracked Saldana down a few hours later near the police department and arrested him without resistance.
He has been charged with:
