SCDOT to hold a public hearing on the Charleston County Bridge Replacement Project

The South Carolina Department of Transportation is inviting residents to learn more about a proposed bridge replacement project in Charleston County at an upcoming public meeting.

Public Meeting Scheduled

SCDOT will host a drop-in public information session from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. on April 23 at Haut Gap Middle School on Johns Island.

Attendees will have the opportunity to speak directly with SCDOT representatives, ask questions, and review details about the proposed project.

Proposed Bridge Replacement

The project involves replacing the existing River Road Bridge over Burden Creek with a new structure built to meet current safety and design standards.

According to officials, the goal is to address structural deficiencies in the current bridge and improve overall safety for drivers in the area.

Public Input Encouraged

SCDOT is encouraging community members to share their feedback on the proposal. Public comments will be accepted beginning April 23 and will remain open through May 22.

Residents are urged to participate in the process as planning for the project moves forward.
