A Summerville woman was charged with lottery fraud after passing stolen tickets.

A 23‑year‑old Summerville woman, Victoria Grace Barnes, has been charged in connection with stealing lottery tickets from her workplace and cashing them at a nearby grocery store.

What she is accused of

Barnes, who worked at Carolina Spirits on Old Trolley Road, is alleged to have stolen South Carolina Education Lottery scratch‑off tickets, with the theft captured on surveillance video. She then reportedly took those tickets to a Food Lion on N. Main Street in Summerville and cashed them for a payout, which was also recorded on video, according to the South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED).

SLED said Barnes was charged with two counts of “intent to defraud, counterfeit game tickets” and one count of “breach of trust with fraudulent intent” for amounts more than $2,000 but less than $10,000. She was arrested on March 23, 2026, after the South Carolina Education Lottery requested a SLED investigation, and was booked at the Dorchester County Detention Center; the case is being prosecuted by the 1st Circuit Solicitor’s Office.
