A shocking incident in North Charleston has raised serious concerns about road safety and mental health, after a man allegedly admitted to intentionally causing a crash to harm others.

Man Arrested After Intentional Crash

In North Charleston, South Carolina, 22-year-old Joseph Latren Gordon Jr. was arrested after he allegedly crashed his car into another vehicle on purpose.

According to the North Charleston Police Department, the incident happened around March 20 near International Boulevard. Officers who reached the scene said Gordon admitted that he deliberately hit the other car.

Erratic Behaviour at the Scene

Police reports mentioned that Gordon appeared highly emotional. He was crying uncontrollably and behaving in an unstable manner.

He told officers that his ex-girlfriend had killed his child. However, this claim was later proven false when his sister contacted him through a video call and showed that the child was safe and unharmed.

The driver of the other vehicle involved in the crash informed police that they wanted to take legal action. Thankfully, no deaths were reported in the incident, but the situation was very serious.

  • A marijuana blunt in plain view
  • Tablets that tested positive for MDMA and fentanyl
  • Around 3.5 grams of marijuana in a sealed bag

The presence of drugs and a weapon made the case more serious.

He now faces several serious charges, including:

  • Attempted murder
  • Trafficking fentanyl
  • Possession of a weapon during a violent crime
