Charleston, S.C. — The Charleston Police Department has released recent crime reports from Team 5, covering Daniel Island, Clements Ferry Road, and parts of Cainhoy between March 1 and March 15.
Drug / Narcotics Violations
On March 2, an officer conducted a traffic stop on Clements Ferry Road due to an expired license plate decal.
Police said the driver could not provide proper documents and only gave verbal identification. During the stop, the officer noticed the smell of marijuana and carried out a search of the vehicle.
Authorities found 3.2 grams of marijuana packaged in the trunk, along with 13 orange pills identified as amphetamine and dextroamphetamine.
Further checks showed the suspect had a suspended license, multiple prior convictions, and was listed as a habitual offender. He was arrested and taken to the Berkeley County Detention Center.
In a separate incident on March 5, police stopped another vehicle at a gas station on Clements Ferry Road. The driver also had a suspended license and appeared nervous.
A search of the vehicle found two homemade bongs used for methamphetamine, with residue still inside. The items were seized and logged as evidence for destruction.
Vandalism
On March 2, a complainant reported that on February 27, several vehicles drove onto a property on Oak Leaf Street and performed “donuts,” damaging the land.
The property had recently been cleared and graded. Repair costs are estimated at around $7,000.
Video footage of the incident is available and will be shared with police. Initial reports suggest three trucks were involved. The investigation is ongoing.
Intimidation
On March 5, officers responded to a business on Seven Farms Drive after a threatening phone call.
According to police, the caller said he was going to “shoot the place up.” The employee who received the call reported that the voice sounded altered, possibly using a distortion method.
When officers called the number back, a young male answered and claimed he lives in another state and did not make the call.
Police noted that similar threats have been made using the same number, including incidents reported in Mount Pleasant.
Theft From a Building
On March 10, a resident who had just moved into a home on Furman Farm Place reported a missing firearm.
The theft likely happened during the move on March 9. The firearm and a silencer, valued at $3,595, were packed in a labeled moving box along with four other firearms, which were still accounted for.
The box seal had been broken. The missing items have been entered into the National Crime Information Center as stolen.
