Police in Tucson, Arizona, arrested 29-year-old David Anthony Cedeno after a road rage shooting on March 14 near Golf Links and Kolb roads, thanks to a distinctive Hello Kitty sticker on his car.
What Happened
Two teenage girls were injured in the legs when Cedeno allegedly shot into their vehicle during a lane-change dispute. The victims remembered his custom license plate and the Hello Kitty sticker on the rear windshield, which helped police track him down quickly. Cedeno claimed he fired only after hearing shots from their car, but a woman who was with him during the incident said she saw no gun on their side and admitted to removing the sticker afterward.
Charges and Court
Cedeno faces 10 felony counts, including:
- 5 counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon
- 2 counts of aggravated assault with serious physical injury
- 1 count of drive-by shooting
- 1 count of discharging a firearm at an occupied structure
- 1 count of discharging a firearm within city limits
His bond is $75,000, and prosecutors highlighted his “significant risk to the public” for firing indiscriminately then trying to cover it up by removing identifiers. He appeared in Pima County court on March 16.
This case shows how small details like a sticker can crack open investigations—police used it alongside the plate to locate his home. Stay safe on the roads, especially in high-traffic areas like Tucson.
