A worker at a Maryland senior living center is accused of fatally shooting an 87-year-old millionaire resident and then continuing to work at the facility for several days. Maurquise Emillo James, 22, has been charged with first-degree murder in the death of Robert Fuller Jr., the Montgomery County Department of Police announced. James is currently held at the Montgomery County Central Processing Unit awaiting a bond hearing.
Details of the Shooting and Investigation
James was a medicine technician at the Cogir Potomac senior living facility in Potomac, where Fuller had been residing. On the night of Feb. 13, James allegedly administered medicine to Fuller and his roommate, as usual. The following day, Fuller was found dead in his bedroom with a gunshot wound to the head. Detectives began their investigation and discovered surveillance footage showing James entering and exiting the facility around the time of the murder. The exterior door alarm sensor was found to have been tampered with, and a paper towel was discovered wedged in the door, leading police to link James to the crime scene.
James’ Arrest and Fuller’s Background
James was later arrested after a series of incidents, including an attempted shooting of a Maryland state trooper. Fuller, a philanthropist and prominent attorney, was a retired Navy Reserve officer and had donated millions in Maine before moving to Maryland. His tragic death has shocked the community, and investigators are piecing together the events leading to the murder.
