Neighbors in York County gathered Saturday to support Army Sgt. Nicholas Firth, who was wounded during his post-9/11 service. Volunteers helped complete landscaping and final touches as Firth received a mortgage-free home built specifically to meet his needs.
The home includes more than 40 accessibility modifications designed to accommodate his injuries, providing greater independence and long-term stability. Firth said the overwhelming community support left him nearly speechless, adding that receiving such a gift from neighbors and fellow Americans meant everything to him.
Homes For Our Troops’ Mission
The home was provided by Homes For Our Troops, a nationally recognized nonprofit that builds and donates specially adapted custom homes for severely injured post-9/11 veterans. The organization’s goal is to help veterans rebuild their lives in barrier-free environments tailored to their unique challenges, giving them the freedom to focus on recovery, family and the future.
