Free Heart Health Event Coming to St. Stephen on February 28

Residents in St. Stephen and surrounding rural areas of Berkeley County will have access to free health services later this month as MUSC CARES hosts a community event focused on heart health.

The event, titled “Show Your Heart Some Love,” is scheduled for Feb. 28, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. at St. Stephen Middle School, located at 225 Carolina Drive. Organizers say the goal is to make preventive care more accessible for families who may face barriers to routine medical services.

Free Screenings and Community Support

Attendees will be able to receive free health screenings and heart-healthy counseling designed to help participants better understand their cardiovascular health and potential risk factors.

The Lowcountry Food Bank will also be on-site to provide food resources and support for families experiencing food insecurity, which is closely tied to long-term health outcomes.

Tools for Long-Term Wellness

Organizers say the event will include free giveaways aimed at encouraging healthier lifestyles, including pedometers to promote daily physical activity, pulse oximeters for monitoring oxygen levels, and heart-healthy recipes and educational materials.

The event is open to all ages and is designed as a family-friendly opportunity to bring awareness, education and preventive care directly into the community, addressing heart disease — one of the leading causes of death nationwide.
