Kenneth Bianchi and Angelo Buono, known as the Hillside Stranglers, are no longer active threats, with Buono deceased and Bianchi serving life in prison.

Current Status

Angelo Buono died in 2002 at age 67 from a heart attack while incarcerated at Calipatria State Prison in California. He had received life without parole after conviction for nine murders.

Bianchi’s Imprisonment

Kenneth Bianchi, now 74, remains at Washington State Penitentiary in Walla Walla, serving life sentences for murders in California and Washington. Parole was denied for the eighth time in July 2025; next eligibility is 2035.

Background Context

The cousins terrorized Los Angeles from late 1977 to early 1978, killing at least 10 women aged 12 to 28, often posing as police to lure victims. Bianchi testified against Buono after pleading guilty to avoid execution, though he later claimed coercion.
