Charleston, South Carolina — High pressure will offer us a dry and pleasant start to the week, but things will change dramatically as we get closer to Thanksgiving!
Light winds and clear sky should allow for cooler temperatures through tonight and early Monday morning. Inland locations are anticipated to fall into the 40s, while coastal areas are expected to linger around the low to mid 50s.
Due to residual low-level precipitation, patchy fog may become more widespread after midnight Monday, particularly south of I-26. Fog will clear by mid-morning, revealing a mostly sunny sky and warm temperatures (upper 60s and low 70s) by Monday afternoon.
Our next cold front is expected to move quickly, allowing for isolated rain possibilities as early as Tuesday morning. Rainfall amounts should be rather low through Wednesday night.
Thanksgiving Day currently appears to be rain-free as the aforementioned system moves offshore. Early morning clouds will clear to reveal a bright sky in the afternoon; temperatures will be substantially colder, with daytime highs only expected to reach the low 60s.
Temperatures may drop to freezing inland on Thursday and Friday evenings as a stronger region of high pressure develops. Temperatures are also expected to be below average until next weekend, followed by a gradual warming in the first week of December.
