Effective next week, Anderson’s public transportation will see new service changes primarily affecting specific bus routes operated by Electric City Transit (ECT). Starting September 21, 2025, changes will apply to routes 21, 45, 101, 301, and 801. These changes are part of ongoing efforts guided by the Anderson Area Transportation Study (ANATS), seeking to improve transit accessibility and quality for the community.
Additionally, ECT has introduced a more flexible service approach where buses can leave regular routes by up to ¾ of a mile to pick up or drop off riders living outside the usual routes. This especially benefits seniors and disabled citizens requiring door-to-door or near-door assistance. Advance reservation by phone at 1-864-231-7625 is necessary for such requests.
Service operates Monday through Friday from 6:30 AM to 6:30 PM, not on major holidays. Route maps covering the Blue, Green, Red, Gold, Purple, and Orange routes are available online, ensuring passengers can plan their trips effectively.
In summary, these new adjustments reflect Anderson’s commitment to enhancing public transport convenience, especially for vulnerable populations, while refining route coverage and timing to meet local needs.
