Anderson’s mayor, Terence Roberts, has announced several major infrastructure projects for 2025 aimed at supporting sustainable growth, enhancing connectivity, and improving quality of life in the city. The highlight is the Anderson Lake mixed-use development, a transformative 1,200-acre community project that will bring approximately 1,000 new homes, mostly for active adults aged 55+, alongside 26 new roads to enhance internal and external traffic flow. This development also includes walking trails, green spaces, expanded healthcare access, a new fire station, and potential new elementary school partnerships with Anderson School District One.
In addition, the city is prioritizing upgrades to wastewater treatment plants, commissioning engineering contracts for preliminary reports and master plans for both the Rocky River and Generostee Creek Wastewater Treatment Plants. These upgrades, funded through partnerships with the county and other entities, are essential to accommodate growth and maintain regulatory compliance.
Furthermore, the mayor detailed ongoing downtown infrastructure enhancements, including Main Street paving and underground utility improvements like water, sewer, and fiber optics installation to improve long-term city services and accessibility. These projects align with overall goals of revitalizing downtown Anderson and supporting housing and recreational facility developments.
Overall, Anderson’s 2025 infrastructure agenda combines large-scale residential growth initiatives with crucial utility upgrades and downtown revitalization, aiming to balance expansion with sustainability and improved community services.
