Berkeley County cops arrest man accused of assaulting a deputy

Berkeley County, South Carolina — A guy accused of assaulting a Berkeley County deputy yesterday was apprehended Friday after fleeing during the original encounter.

According to the Berkeley County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were dispatched to an area on Cypress Forest Drive in Moncks Corner on Thursday to investigate an unknown incident.

When they arrived, they made contact with a man named Sango Huwaa Mosia Asante. Asante allegedly became hostile and assaulted a responding deputy.

According to the sheriff’s office, the two wrestled until Asante broke free and fled the scene.

Authorities launched a search, including the use of a K9 team, but they were unable to locate him.

Asante was discovered on Friday afternoon, following an ongoing inquiry. He is charged with resisting arrest and assaulting a law enforcement officer.
