Milwaukee Police Investigating Fatal Officer-Involved Shooting on North 60th Street

Milwaukee, WI — A 31-year-old man was shot and killed by Milwaukee police Saturday evening during an armed confrontation in the city’s northwest side, authorities confirmed.

According to the Milwaukee Police Department (MPD), officers responded just after 7 p.m. to the 2700 block of North 60th Street to investigate a vehicle believed to be connected to a string of recent business robberies. The vehicle was found behind a residence, where officers encountered the armed suspect standing on the back porch.

Confrontation Turns Deadly

Police say the man was armed, and officers gave him multiple commands to drop his weapon. When he refused, an exchange of gunfire allegedly took place. The man was struck by police gunfire and later died from his injuries. A firearm was recovered at the scene, according to investigators. None of the officers were injured during the incident.

Officers Involved and Standard Procedures

Four officers discharged their weapons during the incident:

A 46-year-old officer with 21 years of service

A 36-year-old officer with 8 years of service

A 30-year-old officer with 5 years of service

A 29-year-old officer with 11 years of service

All four officers have been placed on administrative duty, which MPD said is standard protocol following officer-involved shootings.

Independent Investigation Underway

The Milwaukee Area Investigative Team is overseeing the investigation, with the Brookfield Police Department serving as the lead agency. Authorities say the investigation is still active, and more information will be released as it becomes available.

In accordance with department policy, body camera footage and other video evidence from the incident will be released to the public within 15 days. Viewer discretion will be advised due to the graphic nature of the footage.

MPD emphasized that the release of video is part of their commitment to transparency and accountability in officer-involved incidents.
