Hazel Crest, IL — More than two decades after she vanished, Illinois authorities are once again asking for the public’s help in solving the mystery of Trista Bultema, a Hazel Crest woman who disappeared in 1999.
According to the Cook County Sheriff’s Office, Trista was 27 years old when she was last seen on May 16, 1999, in Hazel Crest. She was reportedly with her boyfriend at the time of her disappearance, and no confirmed sightings have been reported since.
Now listed as 54 years old, Bultema is described as a white female with blue eyes and blond-strawberry hair. She is approximately 5 feet 1 inch tall and weighed around 120 pounds at the time she went missing. Officials note that she has scars on her left elbow and is missing part of her left calf muscle, both of which are key identifiers.
Investigators Still Committed to the Case
Despite the passage of time, the Cook County Sheriff’s Office says a dedicated team of detectives continues to actively work on long-term missing persons cases like Bultema’s. They believe even the smallest tip or memory could lead to a breakthrough.
“We know someone out there may have information, even if it doesn’t seem important,” the Sheriff’s Office said in a statement. “Every lead counts when it comes to bringing closure to families.”
