Some people in West Ashley lose power after a tree strikes an overhead line

Charleston, S.C. – More than 1,400 people in West Ashley are without power Thursday evening after a tree fell on an overhead power line, causing an outage.

The incident occurred around 8 p.m. at the intersection of Ashley River Road and Tobias Gadson Boulevard, according to Paul Fischer, a spokesperson for Dominion Energy.

Crews are currently on-site working to make repairs, and power is expected to be restored by midnight, as per the Dominion Energy outage map.
