CHARLESTON, SC – April 11, 2025 – In a powerful display of community support and corporate responsibility, Hendrick Automotive Group has donated $100,000 to the Lowcountry Food Bank, continuing their longstanding partnership in the fight against food insecurity in the Charleston Tri-County area.
This donation, made possible by the generous contributions of 1,100 Hendrick teammates, Toyota North America, and a matching gift by Rick Hendrick, Chairman and CEO of Hendrick Automotive Group, will provide approximately 500,000 meals to local residents in need.
A Record-Breaking Spring Meal Drive
The Spring Meal Drive, one of the largest to date, saw an impressive mobilization of Hendrick Automotive Group teammates from Charleston-area dealerships and support offices. Volunteers helped pack hundreds of food boxes that will be distributed by Lowcountry Food Bank through its various hunger-relief programs.
The funds raised will directly support:
- BackPack Buddies for local Title 1 schools
- Food packing and distribution events
- Mobile food pantries that bring fresh groceries directly to neighborhoods in need
A Decade-Long Commitment to Community
This latest initiative marks 11 years of partnership between Hendrick Automotive Group and Lowcountry Food Bank. Over the past decade, the group has:
- Hosted over 34 meal drives
- Donated more than $650,000
- Provided over 2.9 million meals to Lowcountry residents
“We were excited to have Hendrick Automotive Group with us last week and we appreciate the generous donation of their time and the impact they make in the lives of those we serve,” said Nick Osborne, President and CEO of Lowcountry Food Bank. “They exemplify what it means to be a dedicated corporate partner.”
The Heart Behind the Mission
The Hendrick Cares program – the group’s corporate social responsibility initiative – continues to lead the charge in fostering meaningful change in the communities they serve.
“It all starts with Mr. Hendrick – he makes it all possible,” said Callie Young, Director of Brand and Reputation at Hendrick Automotive Group. “We’re proud to support Lowcountry Food Bank, a fantastic partner in our shared mission to end hunger in our communities.”
Since fall 2020, Hendrick Automotive Group has donated over $6 million to provide healthy meals to more than 25 million individuals across the 13 states in which it operates. This spring alone, they raised over $1 million to support 26 partner food banks nationwide.
