UPDATE: Mount Pleasant Police Department confirms that crews are still working to restore power following a tree falling on utility lines early Thursday morning. While traffic on Highway 41 is now moving, traffic lights remain out as of 6:55 a.m. Drivers are urged to use caution in the area.
MOUNT PLEASANT, S.C. – A power outage affected residents along Highway 41 and Highway 17 Thursday morning after a tree fell on utility lines. Mount Pleasant Police Department Public Information Officer Brad Franko reported that Highway 41 southbound is blocked while Dominion Energy crews work to clear the tree.
As of 5 a.m., Dominion Energy’s outage map showed approximately 1,120 customers without power. In addition to the power outage, the fallen tree has impacted several traffic lights, including those at Highway 17 and 41, Highway 17 and Winnowing, and Highway 41 and Bessemer. Authorities are urging caution as traffic lights remain out in these areas.
