A fatal single-vehicle crash occurred Wednesday evening on Johns Island, South Carolina. Deputies from the Charleston County Sheriff’s Office responded quickly to the scene.
Fatal Johns Island Crash
The vehicle was traveling toward Kiawah Island when the driver ran off the road, struck a tree, overturned, and caught fire. The driver, who was alone, was pronounced dead at the scene by Charleston EMS.
Debris Hits Another Vehicle
Parts of the crashed car flew onto the road and struck another vehicle. The driver of that car suffered minor injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
Investigation Underway
The Charleston County Coroner’s Office will release the victim’s identity when appropriate. CCSO’s Traffic Services Unit is investigating the crash. Anyone with information can contact the Sheriff’s Office at 843-202-1700.
