A New York woman has been charged with murder after police said she fatally stabbed a longtime friend during a visit to his home in Massapequa.

Friend Allegedly Stabbed During Visit

According to investigators, 22-year-old Kristin Sculley and 28-year-old Robert Carragher had spent several hours together on the night of May 31 at Carragher’s family home.

Police allege that shortly after midnight, Sculley pulled out a knife and stabbed Carragher in the neck while he was in his basement bedroom.

Victim Died After Seeking Help

Authorities said Carragher ran upstairs calling for help and collapsed in the kitchen, where his parents tried to stop the bleeding.

Despite their efforts, he died at the scene after suffering a severe neck wound.

Suspect Charged With Murder

Police said Sculley was found hiding inside the home and was arrested. Officers also recovered a pocketknife believed to be the weapon used in the attack.

Sculley was arraigned on a charge of second-degree murder and pleaded not guilty.

Investigation Continues

Authorities have not released a motive for the stabbing. However, Sculley’s attorney said self-defense has not been ruled out.

She is scheduled to appear in court on June 4.
