An Illinois teenager and professional skateboarder has been charged after allegedly attacking a man with a skateboard at a train station, leaving the victim with serious injuries.

Skateboard Used in Alleged Assault

According to police, 19-year-old Gabriel R. Schuch was arrested following an incident at a Metra train station in Crystal Lake, Illinois, early Thursday morning.

Investigators allege Schuch struck a man in the head with a skateboard during an altercation.

Victim Suffers Serious Injuries

Authorities said the victim was taken to a hospital with significant injuries.

Prosecutors told the court the victim suffered a fractured skull and a brain bleed and was admitted to an intensive care unit.

Charges Filed

Schuch has been charged with aggravated battery in a public place and aggravated battery causing great bodily harm.

According to court records, investigators allege he struck the victim in the head and face with the wheels and axle of a skateboard.

Released Under Supervision

Following a court hearing, Schuch was released under court supervision.

A judge ordered him to wear an ankle monitor and have no contact with the alleged victim. He is scheduled to return to court on July 9.
