A Washington state teenager was fatally shot during an alleged robbery while walking his girlfriend home, and police have now arrested two suspects in connection with the case.
Teen Allegedly Robbed and Shot
According to the Pierce County Sheriff’s Office, 17-year-old Braylon Daniel Diaz was walking with his girlfriend in Parkland, Washington, on the night of May 24 when someone in a car called him over.
Investigators say the suspects robbed Braylon of his jewelry, shot him, and then fled the scene, leaving him critically injured. He later died from his injuries.
Family Remembers Braylon
Braylon’s girlfriend, Katelyn Zuniga, said he spent his final moments protecting her.
His stepmother, Chelsea Diaz, also described him as someone who avoided confrontation and believed he approached the vehicle to keep his girlfriend safe.
Two Suspects Arrested
Police announced the arrests of a 26-year-old woman and a 25-year-old man in connection with the homicide. Authorities have not released their names because formal charges have not yet been filed.
Investigators located a red sedan believed to be connected to the shooting on May 27.
Both suspects are now being held at the Pierce County Jail. Police said the investigation remains ongoing, and there may be additional persons of interest linked to the case.
