GREENVILLE, S.C. — Greenville County deputies are investigating after a 76-year-old woman was found dead in a house fire on Thursday night.
Incident Details
Authorities were called around 10:20 p.m. after a relative checking on a family member at a home on Tray Drive reported smoke and called 911. Fire crews from the Belmont and South Greenville departments arrived to find an active fire inside the residence.
Victim
The Greenville County Coroner’s Office identified the victim as Patricia Ann Butts, 76. She was found unresponsive inside the home and pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigation
The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and an autopsy has been scheduled to determine the circumstances surrounding Butts’ death.
