A woman from Texas has been arrested while her girlfriend remains on the run after investigators uncovered what authorities describe as a severe child abuse case involving two young children in Houston.
According to court documents, 30-year-old Jamesha Wilson faces multiple charges, including injury to a child by omission and intentional injury to a child. Authorities are also searching for 30-year-old Kevonnisha Jones, who is wanted on similar allegations.
The case involves a 2-year-old and a 3-year-old child.
Child Found Critically Injured at Houston Apartment
Investigators said emergency crews were called to an apartment complex on Barberry Drive in Houston’s Sunnyside neighborhood on September 9, 2025.
According to the affidavit, Jones allegedly told paramedics she woke up after hearing a strange noise and found one of the children on the floor. She reportedly claimed the child may have fallen, although she said she did not actually see what happened.
Paramedics immediately noticed the child had severe head injuries. According to the charging documents, medical workers believed the child was dying when they arrived.
The 3-year-old was rushed to a nearby hospital.
Doctors Found Serious Injuries and Signs of Abuse
Hospital staff later discovered the child had an extensive brain bleed, broken bones, and marks believed to have been caused by a belt buckle on her neck, torso, and thighs.
Doctors suspected abuse because of the seriousness and pattern of the injuries and contacted the Harris County Sheriff’s Office.
Investigators later spoke with Wilson, who is the child’s mother, and Jones.
Wilson reportedly told deputies she had been at work and only knew what Jones had told her about the incident. She allegedly claimed the children had been healthy before she left home that morning.
Jones later allegedly told investigators the child’s injuries happened after falling from a bed.
Investigators Allege Women Coordinated Their Stories
According to investigators, authorities later discovered text messages and phone calls between Wilson and Jones discussing what they should tell police.
Court documents state Wilson allegedly informed Jones about the questions investigators were asking and advised her on how to respond regarding the children, their activities, and who had been caring for them.
Second Child Also Found Injured
Doctors later examined the 2-year-old child and reportedly found bruises, fractures, abrasions, and signs of a possible liver injury.
Investigators determined some of the child’s broken bones were in different stages of healing, which authorities believe suggests long-term abuse.
Child Reportedly Placed on Life Support
According to local reports, one of the children suffered such severe injuries that doctors placed the child on life support and removed part of the skull because of the brain injury.
During Wilson’s court appearance, a judge referenced allegations that Jones had abused the children and highlighted the seriousness of the injuries involved in the case.
Wilson Remains in Jail
Wilson is currently being held in the Harris County Jail on a $200,000 bond.
She is expected to return to court on July 2.
Authorities continue searching for Jones.
