A Sydney man has been charged with murdering his wife and two young sons, allegedly after planning the killings for months.

The Incident

MD Shomon Ahamed, 47, reportedly fatally stabbed his 46-year-old wife and their sons, aged 12 and 4, inside their Campbelltown home on Monday evening. Police responded around 7:50 p.m. after receiving an emergency call and discovered the victims inside the residence.

Arrest and Charges

Ahamed was arrested at the scene, taken to Campbelltown Police Station, and charged with three counts of murder. He did not apply for bail, and it was formally refused. His next court appearance is scheduled for July 15 via video link.

Alleged Planning

Police allege Ahamed had been planning the murders for months after reading about a similar murder-suicide involving two autistic teenage boys earlier this year. Investigators claim he was the boys’ full-time carer. The children reportedly had developmental difficulties and were nonverbal.

Crime Scene Details

Authorities described the home as “a very traumatic and horrific scene,” with victims found in different parts of the house. Police recovered a knife believed to be the murder weapon, along with several items connected to the killings.

Legal Proceedings and Defense

Judge Don McLennan formally refused bail. Ahamed has not yet entered a plea. His lawyer, Jawad Hosain, described him as “distressed” and emphasized his client’s right to the presumption of innocence.

Community Reaction

Neighbors expressed shock at the killings. Some described the family as “very withdrawn” and kept to themselves, while others left flowers outside the home, mourning the loss of the children.
