Friends seen'smiling' after firing down firefighter for his iPhone, Nikes, and wallet: Witness

Two young men in Florida are on trial for allegedly killing an off-duty firefighter during a robbery.

The Victim
Christopher Randazzo, 39, a Coral Springs-Parkland firefighter and paramedic, was found dead outside a resort in Lauderdale-by-the-Sea in 2019. He was killed for his iPhone, wallet, and red Nike sneakers, police say. His car keys were also stolen.

The Suspects
Torrey Holston, 26, and Jose Garcia Romero, 27, allegedly carried out the robbery and murder. Witness testimony says they were proud of their crime, reportedly boasting, “I can’t believe I caught a body,” and smiling afterward.

Accomplices and Escape
Holston and Garcia Romero reportedly fled in a Nissan Sentra driven by Marco Rico, who later pleaded guilty to accessory and conspiracy charges. A witness, Cheyenne Papach, described hearing the gunshot and seeing the men take items from Randazzo.

Weapons and Motive
Holston allegedly referred to the gun he used as “my military weapon” and told Garcia Romero they could rob and shoot the victim. Prosecutors say the motive was robbery.

Charges and Trial
Both men face first-degree murder, robbery with a deadly weapon, and criminal conspiracy charges. Their trial is ongoing this week.
