CHANDLER, Ariz. — Authorities have arrested 25-year-old George Randall after he allegedly stabbed his mother in a violent, unprovoked attack at their Chandler home early Friday morning. The mother survived and is recovering, police said.

Randall is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder and aggravated assault.

Attack Details

According to an arrest affidavit obtained by Law&Crime, Randall allegedly attacked his mother while she was asleep on a recliner. He reportedly targeted her neck with a steak knife, stating he intended to wound vital arteries.

Family members told police that Randall had never displayed violent behavior before, though he had recently shown “odd behavior” following a job loss and a workout injury that affected his mood and social interactions.

Witnesses in the home included Randall’s father, brother, and sister. The father reportedly confronted Randall after the attack, and police were called.

Mental Health Context

The affidavit notes that Randall experienced a schizo- or manic-like episode the day before the attack, during which he was speaking to nonexistent voices, pacing frantically, and undressing in the home.

Randall admitted to police that he had planned the attack for several weeks, motivated by anger at his mother for what he perceived as a lack of care and attention. He initially claimed a demon named “Barricles” instructed him to commit the stabbing but later admitted he had fabricated this.

Randall reportedly stated:

“She loved me and I stabbed her… I intentionally wanted the victim to die and did not have any regret or remorse about my actions. I did not care if she was alive or dead.”

Legal Proceedings

Randall is currently being held on a $1 million cash-only bond and is scheduled to appear in court later this month.

Authorities continue to investigate the incident, though no additional suspects are involved.
