Authorities in Missouri have arrested four young adults after the body of a missing 16-year-old girl was discovered in a wooded conservation area about a week after she vanished.
Teen Was Reported Missing by Family
According to the Randolph County Sheriff’s Office, Kayla Huff was reported missing on May 6.
Her remains were later found in a wooded area near the Rudolf Bennitt Conservation Area.
Officials said the discovery has deeply affected the local community and Kayla’s family.
Four Suspects Arrested
Authorities arrested:
- Julian Mason, 26
- Christopher Hull, 23
- Alayna Mason, 20
- Hunter Ames, 19
Investigators said additional charges could still be filed as the homicide investigation continues.
Investigators Describe Alleged Kidnapping Plot
Court documents allege several suspects participated in disabling Kayla’s vehicle by pouring motor oil into the gas tank before she disappeared.
Authorities said Alayna Mason allegedly told others that Kayla was placed in the trunk of a vehicle and transported to the conservation area, where she was assaulted and shot.
Investigators also allege Ames admitted giving Alayna a firearm after she allegedly said she needed to “take care of” the victim.
Evidence Allegedly Hidden
Police said suspects admitted helping dispose of a baton believed to have been used during the assault.
Authorities later recovered the baton during a search connected to the investigation.
More Charges May Be Filed
Current court records show several suspects face charges related to kidnapping, evidence tampering, vehicle theft, firearm theft, and escape from custody.
Officials said no one has yet been formally charged directly with Kayla’s murder, though the investigation remains ongoing.
Authorities also confirmed Kayla’s 17-year-old boyfriend was arrested earlier in connection with the case.
