The St. John’s Fire District and Charleston Fire Department responded to a large brush and mulch pile fire on Johns Island Saturday night.
Fire Details and Response
At approximately 8:30 p.m. on Saturday, crews were called to a fire in a recently cleared area near River Road and Exchange Landing Road. The fire involved a large pile of brush and mulch.
Firefighters continued their efforts into Sunday morning, working to break apart the pile and move it further from a nearby tree line to prevent further spread. The St. John’s Fire District reported that smoke may still be visible in the area as the pile continues to smolder.
Ongoing Efforts
Crews are focused on containing the fire and ensuring it does not reignite or spread to surrounding areas. Local residents are advised to be aware of the smoke as firefighters continue their work.
