Orangeburg County Coroner Sean Fogle has released the identity of the victim in a fatal crash involving a Freightliner tractor-trailer on Friday. The victim has been identified as 51-year-old Freddeerico Alexander from Blair, SC.
Details of the Crash
The crash occurred around 2:45 a.m. on Friday at the intersection of Whetstone Road and North Road. According to the South Carolina Highway Patrol (SCHP), a 2016 Freightliner tractor-trailer traveling north on Whetstone Road collided with a 2023 Mercedes-Benz box truck that was backing east on the same road.
Victim’s Condition
Both drivers were transported to the hospital following the crash. However, Alexander, the driver of the Mercedes-Benz, succumbed to his injuries at the Lexington Medical Center.
The investigation into the crash is ongoing.
