A tragic domestic violence case in Cushing has led to a murder charge after a young mother was shot and killed in front of her child.
What Happened
According to investigators, Connor Allen Kinnamon, 27, is accused of killing his ex-girlfriend, Audrey Adams, also 27, during an early morning argument on Easter.
Authorities say:
- The couple had a verbal fight that turned physical
- Family members were present inside the home
- Adams was holding their 5-year-old son at the time
Fatal Shooting
Police allege that during the argument:
- Kinnamon pulled out a gun
- He shot Adams in the back of the head
- She collapsed immediately
Emergency responders attempted to save her, but she was pronounced dead shortly after.
Suspect Flees and Arrested
After the shooting, investigators say:
- Kinnamon fled the home through the back door
- He drove away in a vehicle belonging to his mother
- Authorities tracked him using cellphone data
He was later located in Kansas, where law enforcement contacted him and negotiated his surrender.
Evidence Recovered
Police reported that:
- The suspected firearm was found in the vehicle
- A spent shell casing was located at the scene
- Kinnamon allegedly confessed to the killing
Child and Family Response
The couple’s young son was not physically injured during the incident.
Family members acted quickly:
- The child was taken to safety
- Police were called immediately
