A deadly road rage incident in Riviera Beach has led to serious charges after a FedEx driver was shot multiple times outside a distribution centre.

What Happened

According to police, Tyler Brandon Vidro, 24, is accused of killing Nathaniel Padgett after following him from the highway to a FedEx facility.

Investigators say:

  • The incident began on Florida’s Turnpike
  • Vidro allegedly tried to provoke a confrontation while driving
  • Padgett ignored him and continued to his workplace

Confrontation at FedEx Facility

Police say the situation escalated after both arrived at a FedEx distribution centre.

According to reports:

  • Vidro followed Padgett onto restricted private property
  • He waited for Padgett outside the building
  • The two exchanged words, with Vidro accusing him of hitting his car

Padgett reportedly tried to leave the situation and moved to another area, but Vidro continued to follow him.

Fatal Shooting

Authorities allege that:

  • Padgett exited his vehicle during the confrontation
  • Vidro fired multiple shots, hitting him several times
  • Investigators believe up to nine shots were fired

Padgett’s girlfriend, who was present, called emergency services as he was critically injured. He later died at the hospital.

Suspect’s Claims and Police Response

After the shooting, Vidro contacted police and claimed he acted in self-defence.

However, investigators say:

  • He initiated and continued the confrontation
  • He followed the victim across multiple locations
  • He was not authorised to be on the private property

Police rejected his “Stand Your Ground” defence, stating it does not apply when someone is engaged in unlawful activity.

Charges and Custody

Vidro is now facing:

  • First-degree murder
  • Aggravated stalking

He is currently being held without bond in jail, with a court date scheduled for May 18.

Remembering the Victim

Family members described Nathaniel Padgett as a devoted father and caring person who worked hard to support his loved ones.
