I'm planned on murdering Donald Trump: Man pledged to execute the president and gloated that he would 'be the one to pull the plug,' feds claim.

Markus Edward Hamlett, a 46-year-old former U.S. Marine Corps and Air Force member from Florida, faces federal indictment for threatening to kill President Donald Trump through a series of explicit emails sent in May and December 2025. He vowed to “stop at nothing” to murder Trump, claiming plans and even sharing a supposed D.C. receipt as “proof” of preparation.

Threats Detailed

From his Yahoo account, Hamlett emailed news outlets and officials messages like “I’m planning on murdering Donald Trump,” “Markus Hamlett has a plan to murder Donald Trump,” and “I’m going to murder the President.” A December CIA email escalated with “The murder of Donald Trump!” and ultimatums. He later admitted to agents he’d sought arrest via calls and emails for a year.

Arrest History

Escambia County deputies held him involuntarily for mental health on January 30 after threats at Lakeview Center, where he told staff he’d kill Trump. Secret Service interviews confirmed his intent. An October 2025 California arrest followed a 911 call boasting an assassination plan, but he was released quickly.

Charged in U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Florida with one count of threatening the president, Hamlett awaits jury selection on April 6 in Pensacola. His pattern shows deliberate provocation for attention amid mental health concerns.
