Keith Roberts Jr., a 29-year-old security guard, allegedly entered his ex-girlfriend Myshaela Burnham’s workplace in Bradenton, Florida, and shot her at point-blank range with a shotgun before targeting her co-worker with a handgun. Burnham, also 29, died at the scene, while her co-worker was hospitalized in stable condition after surgery for multiple wounds from both weapons.
Incident Details
The shooting occurred around 12:45 p.m. on January 15, 2026, in an office suite on the 5200 block of 4th Avenue, near a dental office with no patients present but many witnesses who heard the gunfire. Bradenton Police Chief Jason Cramer described Roberts entering through an unlocked door, going straight to Burnham’s desk, and firing premeditatedly, calling the act “cruel” and “evil” that terrorized victims and affected families, including Burnham’s children.
Arrest and Charges
Roberts was apprehended within 25 minutes via a traffic stop after 911 callers described his fleeing vehicle, with no resistance despite being armed. He faces charges of first-degree murder with a firearm for Burnham’s death and attempted first-degree murder with a firearm for the co-worker; he appeared in court the next day and is due back a week later, with arraignment on February 13.
