A man in Spartanburg is accused of armed robbery and carjacking.

Spartanburg Police arrested 34-year-old Ryan Maquese Bennet from Inman following a carjacking at Kensington Manor Apartments. The incident occurred on January 2, when Bennet allegedly used a handgun to rob an Uber Eats driver and steal his burgundy Nissan Altima. Bennet faces charges of carjacking, robbery, and possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and remains in Spartanburg County Detention Center.​

Incident Details

The victim was approached by Bennet, who offered help finding an apartment during the delivery. Bennet then pulled a gun to the victim’s head, took his wallet, and fled in the vehicle with passenger-side door damage. No physical injuries occurred.

Arrest Update

Bennet was apprehended on January 15 at the same apartment complex. Local reports confirm the charges align with South Carolina violent crime statutes.
