A 93-year-old man named Richard Hocking turned himself in to Fremont police early on January 3, 2026, after allegedly shooting his 86-year-old spouse in a parking lot on the 5000 block of Mowry Avenue. Officers arrived around 12:22 a.m., found the victim deceased in the front passenger seat of their vehicle, and recovered a firearm from inside.​
