After pursuing a tri-county area, an 18-year-old is accused of reckless driving and assaulting an officer.

An 18-year-old North Charleston resident, Jesus Gregorio Solis Olquin, faces multiple charges after leading Berkeley County deputies on a high-speed chase on December 28, 2025, exceeding 100 mph. The incident began during anti-street racing patrols near Nexton Parkway and I-26, where deputies stopped a black Ford Mustang speeding without lights on Volvo Car Drive.

Pursuit Sequence

Solis Olquin allegedly jumped into the driver’s seat while deputies spoke to the original driver and fled east on I-26 through Dorchester and Charleston counties. North Charleston Police ended the chase by deploying stop sticks on Highway 78 near the I-26 overpass, disabling the vehicle.

Arrest and Charges

During custody and a post-arrest search, Solis Olquin became combative and allegedly head-butted a deputy. Charges include reckless driving, failure to stop for blue lights and sirens, driving under suspension, and assault on a law enforcement officer while resisting arrest, as announced by Sheriff Duane Lewis.
