Expect traffic restrictions in Charleston for Thursday's Turkey Day Run and Gobble Wobble

Charleston, South Carolina – The 48th Annual Turkey Day Run and Gobble Wobble takes place on Thanksgiving, and runners and walkers will gobble, wobble, and strut their way through the streets of downtown Charleston.

The race begins at 9 a.m. in Marion Square, with runners heading south on Meeting Street toward White Point Garden, looping through the South of Broad area, and returning up King Street to Marion Square.

The Charleston Police Department will shut the whole marathon course to traffic beginning at 8:45 a.m. in preparation for the event. The roads will reopen after the race is over.

Police said car access to some businesses and residences will be restricted during the event, but officers will be stationed along the course to help with traffic flow and neighborhood access.

An awards presentation is set for approximately 9:45 a.m., followed by a children’s fun run at 10 a.m. The event is slated to conclude around noon.

Organizers claim the 5K run and walk benefits local organizations and attracts over 8,000 people each year. The event is competitive, but it invites runners and walkers of all abilities.
