Charleston, South Carolina – News 2 is looking for nominations from the community for our annual Remarkable Women initiative.
Every year, we commemorate the remarkable women who make a difference in their communities day in and day out. These are women who inspire, lead, and pave the way for other women to succeed.
News 2 has recognized over 20 women since the commencement of the program five years ago, including the founders of NGOs, medical professionals, volunteers, and trailblazers.
We want to hear from you. Nominate a woman who you feel deserves recognition for the work that she does to better the community and the people around them.
How it works: You fill out a nomination form and a brief essay telling us what makes your nominee so amazing. A panel will read through every nomination and pick four women to be featured during Women’s History Month in March.
A fifth woman will be crowned the Lowcountry’s most extraordinary woman of the year. She will receive a $1,000 gift from News 2 to the nonprofit of her choice, as well as a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Nashville, Tennessee, to join other exceptional women from throughout the country for a star-studded celebration.
Additionally, five women will be chosen as regional finalists, and one woman will be named the Remarkable Woman of the Year and receive a $25,000 donation made directly to the nonprofit closest to her heart.
If you nominated someone last year, you’re welcome to share her story again this year and offer her another chance to be acknowledged. Nominations are open until December 19th.
