Sunday will bring another hot and humid day to the area, continuing the warm trend seen in recent days. After a Saturday with temperatures reaching the 90s and high humidity, Sunday will start with mild, muggy conditions, with temperatures in the low to mid-70s under partly to mostly cloudy skies.
Heat and Rain Chances
Despite the cloud cover, temperatures will once again climb into the 90s on Sunday, with humidity making it feel even hotter. A cold front moving into the region will slow down as it reaches the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry, sparking isolated showers and storms in the afternoon. There may be pockets of heavy rain that could cause localized flooding in areas with poor drainage. However, rain chances will diminish after sunset.
Looking Ahead: A Wetter Pattern
The cold front stalling offshore will bring wetter conditions from Monday through Wednesday. Expect mild mornings and scattered showers with a few rumbles of thunder during both daybreak and the afternoon. Highs will be below average, with temperatures only reaching the low to mid-80s. As the week progresses, rain chances will drop to 20-30%, and more sunshine is expected. Afternoon temperatures will warm slightly toward the end of the week, reaching the upper 80s.
Tropics Update
Good news on the tropical front: A tropical wave, designated as Invest-91L, now has only a 20% chance of developing into a depression or named storm. Dry, stable air continues to limit its development. The disturbance is expected to move westward into the Caribbean Sea but is not expected to become a significant threat. There are currently no tropical threats to the Coastal Empire and Lowcountry.
