CHARLESTON, S.C. – The Citadel will kick off the 2025-26 school year with its first military dress parade at Summerall Field on Friday afternoon.
According to the military college, the parading of troops has a long-standing history, and the South Carolina Corps of Cadets’ dress parades reflect drill procedures and movements of the past.
Parades like this one serve as an opportunity to inspect troops, render honors, preserve tradition, and foster a spirit of pride and fellowship.
The winner of the President’s Cup and Summerall Cup will be announced during Friday’s Parade. The President’s Cup goes to the cadet company earning the highest overall score in academics, military bearing, physical effectiveness, and freshman retention.
It’s the highest honor a cadet company can achieve, and the Summerall Cup goes to the cadet company with the highest grade-point average.
The parade will begin at 3:45 p.m. It is free and open to the public.
