NORTH CHARLESTON, S.C. – A 57-year-old man has been arrested for robbing an elderly man in a parking lot outside Lowe’s Home Improvement on Northwoods Boulevard last month, according to the North Charleston Police Department (NCPD).

What Happened

On June 3, police say Jimmie Pryor Jr. approached an 83-year-old man sitting in his car and asked for gas money. Moments later, Pryor allegedly opened the car door and forcibly took a money clip that contained $200 in cash. The clip was engraved with the victim’s name, police added.

How Police Caught the Suspect

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage from the area and used help from the NCPD’s Intelligence Led Policing Unit to track down Pryor. He was located and arrested on Monday on Dunlap Street.

Pryor was booked into the Al Cannon Detention Center, where he is now facing a charge of strong-armed robbery.

Thanks to quick investigation and surveillance footage, police were able to identify and arrest the suspect accused of robbing a senior citizen in broad daylight. The case serves as a reminder to stay alert, especially for older adults, and highlights the role technology plays in helping solve local crimes.
