Due to the temporary closure of Ashley Phosphate Road, CARTA has modified the service on Route 12

North Charleston, S.C. – The Charleston Area Regional Transportation Authority (CARTA) has announced modifications to Route 12 for Thursday and Friday due to scheduled railroad repairs on Ashley Phosphate Road. The repairs, being carried out by Norfolk Southern, will require the closure of a portion of Ashley Phosphate Road between Rivers Avenue and Dorchester Road for approximately two days.

Route Modifications

To continue providing service during the closure, CARTA’s Route 12 will operate in two segments:

12A: Travels from the CARTA Superstop at the intersection of Rivers Avenue and Cosgrove Road to Cross County Road. A temporary transfer point stop will be located at Pepperdam Avenue.

12B: Travels from Otranto Road to Cross County Road via Palmetto Commerce, with the Pepperdam Avenue temporary transfer point stop.

Temporary Stops and Service Disruptions

There will be four temporary stops set up for riders during the closure, including the transfer point at Pepperdam Avenue. CARTA officials are advising commuters to be aware of these changes and plan their routes accordingly.

Road Closure Details

The road closure will begin at 9 a.m. on Thursday, lasting until 5 p.m. on Friday. CARTA passengers are encouraged to use the modified routes and temporary stops during this period.
