On Friday night, Charleston International Airport (CHS) was the site of a significant first responder presence after a reported incident involving two aircraft. The incident occurred when a Breeze Airways Airbus MX509, which had been diverted from its original route due to thunderstorms, was struck by another plane while on the ground.
Incident Details
Flight MX509, a Breeze Airways airliner traveling from Las Vegas to Norfolk, Virginia, was rerouted to Charleston around 9:30 p.m. due to severe thunderstorms in the Virginia area. The plane landed safely at Charleston Airport and had parked, awaiting fuel for the continuation of its journey.
However, while the Airbus was stationary, the **tail of the plane was struck by an ANA Boeing 787-10 as it was taxiing on the tarmac.

Ongoing Investigation
At the time of the report, officials at Charleston International Airport and Joint Base Charleston had not provided further details regarding the incident. Breeze Airways has promised to continue working with authorities as they assess what occurred.
