Metal energy propels the power trio Restless Spirit into Tin Roof

West Ashley, S.C. – If you’re a metal fan, mark your calendar for July 10 when Restless Spirit, the powerhouse trio from New York, brings their electrifying performance to the Tin Roof in West Ashley. Known for their intense energy and powerful sound, Restless Spirit promises to deliver a metal show that fans won’t forget.

A Band Known for Raw Power

Restless Spirit, a band formed in 2016, has quickly found a strong following in the Southeast. This tour, which stops in places like Georgia, Florida, Virginia, Tennessee, and the Carolinas, feels almost like a homecoming for the band.

“I don’t know what it is,” says Paul Aloisio, singer/guitarist, in a recent interview with the Charleston City Paper. “But sometimes I feel like we’re local to the North Carolina/South Carolina area. It feels like a stone’s throw from New York.”

Live Album: The Doomed & The Dead…Live

The band’s latest live album, The Doomed & The Dead…Live, recorded at the metal-heavy RPM Fest, captures the full intensity of their performances. From the moment the band hits the stage, it’s clear that Restless Spirit isn’t here to hold back. Aloisio kicks things off by roaring, “THAT ENDS NOW!” and the audience is treated to a relentless mix of hard rock, thrash, progressive metal, and stoner metal.

Songs like “Judgment & Exile” and “Cascade Immolator” show off the band’s thrash influence, while “Lords Of The New Depression” takes the crowd on a progressive metal journey. The album ends with the slow and powerful “From The Dust Returned,” giving fans a taste of the band’s full range.

A Band That Breaks Boundaries

Restless Spirit doesn’t tie itself to one subgenre of metal. Aloisio explains, “When I get in a room with our drummer, we ask ourselves what we’re feeling today. Whatever comes out is going to come out.”

The trio, completed by bassist Marc Morello and drummer Jon Gusman, has mastered the art of blending different styles into their sound, making every song feel fresh and exciting.

A Trio That Works Together

Aloisio credits the trio format for allowing more freedom and creativity. “As a guitar player, it gives me more room to mess around,” he says. “It makes it easier to flow in a more organic and experimental way. I have the luxury of doing whatever I want as long as it serves the song.”

Restless Spirit’s Success

Restless Spirit’s latest studio album, 2023’s Afterimage, has already surpassed 1 million streams. Aloisio says the band always strives to make music that connects with listeners, while still staying true to their own sound. “Obviously, to make the purest music, you have to make it for yourself, but you also want people to connect with it.”

The band has released three albums, four EPs, and multiple singles in just a few years, with no signs of slowing down. “We love playing together and writing songs,” Aloisio says. “Back in the ’70s and ’80s, bands were putting out albums every year or two. We like to give our listeners more.”

A New Sound Ahead

Looking to the future, Aloisio hints that the band’s upcoming fourth album will bring a new direction. “We’ve started writing our next album, and it’s markedly different from the last one. I feel like I’ve gotten the darkness out. Now I want to have more fun. Life and circumstances change.”

Restless Spirit’s upcoming show at Tin Roof in West Ashley is sure to be a wild ride. With their raw power, energetic live shows, and constantly evolving sound, the band is set to keep their fans hooked and excited for what’s next.
