A man from Moncks Corner is suspected of robbing the West Ashley bank

Charleston, S.C. — Jason Rashad Simmons, a 37-year-old man from Moncks Corner, was arrested on Wednesday for allegedly robbing the First Citizens Bank in West Ashley earlier this week.

The Robbery

According to the Charleston Police Department, officers were called to the First Citizens Bank on Sam Rittenburg Boulevard at approximately 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday after reports of a robbery.

Bank employees informed investigators that a man entered the bank, passed a note demanding money, and then fled the scene.

The Arrest

With the help of U.S. Marshals, officers located and arrested Jason Simmons in Goose Creek. He is now charged with entering a bank with the intent to steal.

The Investigation

Detectives also revealed that Simmons printed a version of the note at a nearby library before the robbery occurred. This detail has been added to the ongoing investigation.

Charges

Jason Rashad Simmons faces charges for robbery and is currently in custody. His arrest brings an end to the search for the individual responsible for the bank robbery in West Ashley.
