Tell me why I shouldn't murder you': Man shoved gun in girlfriend's mouth and remarked 'good' when she told him she couldn't breathe, cops said

A Florida man has been arrested after allegedly threatening to kill his girlfriend, firing a gun at her, and assaulting her while her infant daughter was nearby, authorities said.

Argument Escalated Into Violence

According to police, 33-year-old Erick LaPlante became angry after finding messages on his girlfriend’s phone that made him suspect she was talking to another man.

Investigators say he forced her to unlock the phone at gunpoint before confronting her about the conversation.

Shot Fired During Threat

Police allege LaPlante pointed a gun at the woman and told her, “Tell me why I shouldn’t kill you,” before firing a shot that narrowly missed her.

Authorities said the victim’s infant daughter was nearby during the incident.

Multiple Assault Allegations

According to the arrest affidavit, LaPlante allegedly choked the woman, prevented her from breathing, and struck her with the gun, causing injuries to her face.

The victim later escaped with her baby after her sister arrived at the apartment and called police.

Suspect Held Without Bond

LaPlante was arrested and booked into the Miami-Dade County Jail. He faces charges including attempted murder, armed robbery, battery by strangulation, and aggravated assault.

He is currently being held without bond.
