JACKSONVILLE, FLA. — Austin Fisher, 30, has been charged with the murders of Savannah Barber, 27, Edwin Barber, 49, and Shad Cole, 37, following a series of fatal stabbings in Jacksonville. Fisher is currently in custody without bond.
Discovery of the Victims
Authorities were alerted when a man reported a stranger knocking on his front door. Patrol officers responded and discovered Edwin Barber on the front porch with a stab wound to his chest. Investigators learned that Edwin had been stabbed at his own home and ran to a neighbor’s house for help.
Officers then went to the Barber residence, where Savannah Barber was found inside a bedroom with multiple stab wounds. During the neighborhood search, deputies located Shad Cole with multiple stab wounds on another porch.
Savannah Barber and Cole were pronounced dead at the scene, while Edwin Barber was transported to a hospital but later died.
Alleged Motive and Circumstances
Family members told local news outlets that the attack may have started over a dispute involving $600. According to Amy Barber, Savannah’s mother and Edwin’s wife, Fisher lived in a shed on the property. She alleged that Fisher waited until everyone was asleep before attacking and returned to ensure there were no witnesses.
Amy Barber further claimed that Fisher paid someone $100 to call an Uber and confessed his actions to the driver. Authorities have not officially confirmed a motive.
Arrest and Charges
Fisher was identified with the assistance of local residents and apprehended at a nearby motel. He faces three counts of murder and is being held without bond pending further proceedings.
