A Virginia murder case involving a missing woman has taken a new turn after prosecutors revealed fresh forensic evidence in court. Authorities allege that Naresh Bhatt killed his wife, Mamta Kafle Bhatt, before dismembering her body and trying to cover up the crime.

New Evidence Revealed in Court

According to court documents, investigators recovered three human hairs, multiple hair fragments, fibres, and debris from a handheld power saw found inside the Bhatt family home.

Prosecutors said some of the hair samples may be suitable for DNA testing. The evidence was reportedly submitted to a forensic lab for further examination.

Authorities believe the power saw may have been used to dismember Mamta Bhatt’s body after her death.

Mamta Bhatt Reported Missing

Mamta Kafle Bhatt, 28, was last seen on July 27, 2024, while working at UVA Health Prince William Medical Center in Manassas, Virginia.

Police were asked to check on her after she missed several days of work and stopped responding to friends and co-workers.

When officers visited the couple’s home on August 2, Naresh Bhatt reportedly claimed his wife had left and may have travelled to New York or Texas. He also told police the couple had been separating.

Investigators Found Blood Evidence

As the investigation continued, authorities allegedly discovered blood evidence inside the home. Investigators also claimed there were signs that a body had been dragged from the master bedroom to the bathroom.

Police later arrested Naresh Bhatt on August 22, 2024, on charges related to concealing a dead body. He was later indicted for murder in December 2024.

Authorities Believe Body Was Dismembered

Investigators believe Naresh Bhatt killed his wife before dismembering her body and scattering the remains across Northern Virginia.

Despite extensive searches, Mamta Bhatt’s remains have not been found.

Bhatt is currently facing charges including murder, concealing a dead body, and physically defiling a dead body. His jury trial is scheduled to begin on October 5.
